BEOAK FURNITURE CARE

Natural wax-based oils are currently the predominant finish for solid wood furniture. The oil enhances the natural beauty of the wood and has the practical advantage of being easy to maintain and restore damaged surfaces.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF SOLID WOOD FURNITURE

For routine cleaning, we recommend wiping furniture with a dry or damp soft cotton cloth. Oiled surfaces do not provide as much protection against moisture and mechanical damage as painted surfaces, so it is recommended to remove any dirt (food, liquids) as soon as possible.

If necessary, we recommend to treat the surface with our original oils, or with a product containing natural oils or beeswax, following the instructions on the product. Always wipe the surface dry after using such a product.

HOME CARE

Before you start treating a damaged surface as part of your home care, it is a good idea to define the extent of the damage and consider whether it would be more appropriate to leave the job in the hands of our experts.

HOME CARE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE FOLLOWING DAMAGES:

  • Drawn on with crayons, pens
  • "Rings" from liquids such as coffee, wine, tea, etc.
  • Fine scratches from rings, but also from other metal objects
  • Surface damage caused by unsuitable cleaning agents

HOME CARE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THESE DAMAGES:

  • Deep grooves and dents
  • Badly damaged surfaces
  • The damaged area is too large
  • The surface is too rugged (e.g., chairs)

If you have any doubts about the damage to your furniture, please contact us by filling in the contact form or on phone number +421 908 818 778. We will be happy to advise you. If necessary, we will arrange a professional renovation. Our technicians are highly skilled and have extensive experience in refurbishing different types of surfaces and their level of damage. This will make the renovation efficient and save you time and worry.

Important Notice: The following guidelines for home renovating BEOAK furniture apply only to oiled surfaces, with the strict exception of dining tables, coffee tables, and nightstands.

BEOAK CARE HOME RENOVATION PACKAGE

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your oiled furniture, you can conveniently purchase our original care package through our e-shop. We typically recommend a refreshing treatment after about a year of use.

⚠️ Please note: This care package and the home renovation procedure below are not suitable for dining tables, coffee tables, and nightstands.

Package contents:

  • Furniture oil (250 ml): gives your furniture a beautiful velvety shine while protecting it from moisture and scratches. (Note: We recommend professional renovation for areas of 2 square meters)
  • 1x Abrasive sponge
  • 1x Sponge
  • 1x Cloth for wiping after sanding: this cloth is made of soft material that will not damage the surface of the furniture
  • 1x Oil wiping cloth

HOME RENOVATION PROCEDURE

  • WARNING: After oil treatment, you must soak all used materials (sponges, cloths) in water immediately. There is a high risk of spontaneous combustion. The risk is exceptionally high with the COFFEE oil shade. Take extra care.
  • Always ensure thorough ventilation of the room and wear protective latex gloves.
  • After use, do not store the oil bottle near electrical equipment. Properly recycle all components according to the instruction manual.
WHAT TO PREPARE BEFORE TREATING THE SURFACE
  • BEOAK CARE package
  • A well-ventilated room
  • Protective equipment (latex gloves, newspapers to protect the floor/carpets)
  • A container (at least 5 litres) filled with cold water
  • A wooden skewer for mixing the oil

Treatment instructions

  1. Put newspapers under the furniture to protect the floor.
  2. Put on protective gloves and open the window.
  3. Clean the surface with a damp cloth dipped in soapy water to remove grease and dirt.
  4. Wipe the surface completely dry with a clean cotton cloth.
SANDING
  1. Take a sanding sponge and sand the entire contact area with even strokes (not circular) in the direction of the grain. Do not press too hard, the movements should be light so that the surface is sanded gradually and evenly.
  2. Do not press too hard; the movements should be light so that the surface is sanded gradually and evenly.
  3. Thoroughly wipe off the resulting wood dust with a dry dust cloth.
OILING
  1. Make sure the window remains open for proper ventilation.
  2. Shake the oil container for 30 seconds. The pigments in coloured oils settle at the bottom and need to be thoroughly mixed.
  3. Open the container. If using the NATUR oil (which is very viscous), stir it with a wooden skewer. For other oils, skip the stirring.
  4. Apply a layer of oil onto the foam sponge.
  5. Using a circular motion, work the oil into the wood so that the entire surface is evenly coated. Avoid creating thick layers or run-offs.
  6. Gently wipe any excess oil from the entire surface with the oil wiping cloth.
  7. IMMEDIATELY throw the used sponge and cloths into the container of water, ensuring they are completely submerged to prevent spontaneous combustion.
RECYCLING USED TOOLS

Do not store unused oil residues for a long time. It must be disposed of as hazardous waste. The cotton cloths and sponges used to apply the oil are highly flammable and are also classified as hazardous waste. Always soak them completely in water right after use and take them to your nearest local collection yard.

AFTER OILING, GIVE THE FURNITURE TIME

Important: The oil is dry, durable, non-staining, and non-abrasive after 24 hours. However, it provides full protection only after it has fully cured, which takes 14 days. Until this period is over, the surface is more prone to stain formation and should not be cleaned with wet agents or exposed to moisture.

FIRST AID FOR IMPROPER USE OF OIL

General instructions: if in doubt or if symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never administer anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Place the unconscious person in a stable position and call for medical assistance.

In case of eye contact: If you use contact lenses, remove them and flush with plenty of clean water, even under the eyelids for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.

Inhalation exposure: Move the affected person to fresh air. Keep the victim warm and calm. If the person is not breathing, is breathing irregularly or is in respiratory arrest, provide artificial respiration and seek medical attention immediately.

In case of skin contact: remove contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or use a recognised skin cleanser. Do not use solvents or thinners.

If swallowed: If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately and show the container or label of the oil. Keep persons warm and calm. Do not induce vomiting.
